Upper Naranjo: El Chorro

Last December and January I was fortunate to spend time in Costa Rica working in Quepos. The best run, just 30 minutes out of town, was the Upper Naranjo, know as the Chorro or Throat. The Chorro is a short, fun IV- easy V run that we all loved atAventuras H20. A unique aspect of this section of river is that is largely a bedrock run, unlike nearly all the other paddling in CR which generally is full of boulder gardens. The best days I spent in Quepos were early morning safety kayak work on the Chorro and board surfing at Playa Manuel Antonio in the afternoon. Here are some of the photos from a run in mid-December.
